DTC 25 - Electric Detonator 2 Short to Ground

MALFUNCTION
DTC 25 L: Electric detonator 2, shorting to ground

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unplug the connector on the seat-belt tensioner. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
2. Unplug connector 58.
3. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between the connector and ground. Take readings across pin 9 and ground and across pin 5 and ground.
If any reading is 700 ohms or lower, the fault is in the wiring between connector 58 and the seatbelt tensioner. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
If both readings are higher than 700 ohms - proceed to point 2.Plug in connector 58.
4. Clear the trouble code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition switched ON. Check whether the trouble code persists.
If the trouble code persists, the fault could be in the wiring between connector 58 and the control module. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the control module as necessary. Before changing the control module, Programming and Relearning
If the trouble code does not recur, the fault could be in the seat-belt tensioner. Check this by removing the reference resistor and plugging in the seat-belt tensioner. Switch ON the ignition and wait at least 40 seconds. If the trouble code is generated afresh, the fault is in the seat-belt tensioner. Change the seat-belt tensioner.
