Curtain Air Bag Module Removal/Installation
CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. Air Bag System Service Warnings Air Bag System Service Cautions
1. Switch the ignition to off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.
3. Remove the following parts:
a. A-pillar trim A-Pillar Trim Removal/Installation
b. Sunvisor Service and Repair
c. Map light Map Light Removal/Installation
d. Assist handle Service and Repair
e. Front scuff plate Front Scuff Plate Removal/Installation
f. Rear scuff plate Rear Scuff Plate Removal/Installation
g. B-pillar lower trim B-Pillar Lower Trim Removal/Installation
h. Front seat belt anchor cover Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation
i. Upper anchor of the front seat belt Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation
j. B-pillar upper trim B-Pillar Upper Trim Removal/Installation
k. Third-row seat Rear - Third-Row Seat Removal/Installation
l. Sub trunk Sub-Trunk Removal/Installation
m. Trunk end trim Trunk End Trim Removal/Installation
n. Third-row seat belt lower anchor installation bolt Third-Row Seat Belt Removal/Installation
o. Trunk side trim
p. Second-row seat belt upper anchor installation bolt Second-Row Seat Belt Removal/Installation
q. Rear header trim Rear Header Trim Removal/Installation

s. Headliner Service and Repair
4. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.
5. Remove the bolt A.
6. Remove the bolt B.
7. Remove the bolt C.
8. Remove the bolt D.
9. Pull hook A in the direction shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
10. Pull hook B in the direction shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
11. Pull hook C in the direction shown in the figure and remove it from the body.
12. Remove the curtain air bag module.
13. Install in the reverse order of removal.
14. When the switch the ignition to ON verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and goes out.
- If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. Two-Step Deployment Control System Standard Deployment Control System
Curtain Air Bag Module Installation Note
1. Affix the double-sided adhesive tape for the curtain air bag module to the position shown in the figure.
