Seat Temperature Element: Testing and Inspection





SEAT WARMER UNIT INSPECTION

WARNING:
- Handling a front seat (with built-in side air bag) improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings before handling a front seat (with built-in side air bag). Air Bag System Service Warnings

CAUTION:
- After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the front seat is installed.
- Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a front seat.
- When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.
- If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See Programming and Relearning)

- Replacement with a new seat weight sensor
- Replacement with a new seat weight sensor control module
- Replacement with new passenger-side seat parts
- Disassembly of the passenger-side seat

- If any of the following work is performed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS. (See Component Tests and General Diagnostics)

- Removal of the passenger-side seat
- Loosening and retightening of passenger-side seat fixing bolts

Seat Cushion

1. Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).

2. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more.

4. Remove the front seat. Front Seat Removal/Installation

5. Remove the front seat belt anchor cover. (passenger-side only) Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation

6. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor installation bolt. (passenger-side only) Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation

7. Disconnect the short connector.





8. Verify that the continuity between the short connector terminals is as indicated in the table.






- If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat warmer unit. Service and Repair






9. Apply battery positive voltage to short connector terminal 2A (wiring harness-side) and terminal 2B (wiring harness-side) to ground.

10. While inspecting for voltage of the short connector, use a dryer to warm the thermostat of the seat warmer unit on seat cushion.






11. Verify that the voltage at the short connector terminals is as indicated in the table.






- If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat warmer unit. Service and Repair





Seat Back

1. Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).

2. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more.

4. Remove the front seat. Front Seat Removal/Installation

5. Remove the front seat belt anchor cover. (passenger-side only) Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation

6. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor installation bolt. (passenger-side only) Front Seat Belt Removal/Installation

7. Disconnect the seat warmer connector and short connector.






8. Verify that the continuity between the seat warmer connector and short connector is as indicated in the table.






- If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat warmer unit (seat back). Service and Repair






- If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat warmer unit (seat back). Service and Repair






- If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat warmer unit (seat back). Service and Repair
