Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection




PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION [L3]

Airflow Inspection

1. Remove the purge solenoid valve without disconnecting the evaporative hose. Service and Repair

2. Verify that the airflow is as indicated in the table.






- If as specified in the table, perform the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".
- If not as specified in the table, inspect the purge solenoid valve. Service and Repair





Circuit Open/Short Inspection

1. Disconnect the PCM connector. Service and Repair

2. Inspect the following wiring harnesses for open or short circuit (continuity check).






Open circuit
- If there is no continuity, there is an open circuit. Repair or replace the wiring harness.

- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and PCM terminal 2C
- Purge solenoid valve terminal B and main relay terminal C

Short circuit
- If there is continuity, there is a short circuit. Repair or replace the wiring harness.

- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and body ground
- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and power supply
- Purge solenoid valve terminal B and body ground
