Fuel Pump: Service and Repair


WARNING: Release fuel pressure. Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedures".
Technician Safety Information


NOTE: Obtain audio anti-theft access code before disconnecting battery cables.


Numbers Indicate Sequence Of Removal:





REMOVAL
Disassemble in the order shown in the figure.
1. Rear Seat cushion
2. Fuel pump cover
3. Fuel pump gauge unit connector
4. Fuel hoses
5. Fuel pump gauge
6. Fuel pump connector
7. Bracket
8. Rubber mount
9. Fuel pump
10. Fuel filter (Low pressure side)

INSTALLATION
Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to Assembly Notes.


ASSEMBLY NOTES


Install Hoses And Clamps As Shown:





Fuel Hose
1. Do not apply excessive side force when pushing the fuel hose onto the fuel pump nipple.
2. Install the clamps as shown.


Verify Fuel Pump Is Seated Properly:

1. After installing the fuel pump to the bracket, pull the pump down so that it is tight against the bracket.
