Pinpoint Test F: One Or More Switch Illumination Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 110, Power Door Locks for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 119, Climate Controlled Seats for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Lighting Control Module (LCM) supplies a variable Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage to the dimmable illumination. With the ignition switch in the ACC or RUN position, voltage is supplied from the Central Junction Box (CJB) to the door lock control switches and heated seat control switches.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Illumination source

PINPOINT TEST F: ONE OR MORE SWITCH ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.

-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE COMPONENT

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.
- Ignition ON.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source, harness side and ground as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
If all the non-dimmable sources are inoperative, VERIFY the CJB fuse 9 (7.5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 964 (DB/LG) for an open. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Diagrams By Number

For all other conditions, GO to F2.

No
REPAIR the voltage supply circuit in question for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE USING THE CONNECTOR GROUND

- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source connector, harness side as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new switch or component in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the ground circuit in question for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
