Normal Operation

The Lighting Control Module (LCM) supplies a variable Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage to the dimmable switches and components through circuit 484 (OG/BK). The non-dimmable switches and components receive voltage through circuit 964 (DB/LG) from the Central Junction Box (CJB) when the ignition switch is in the ACC or RUN position. The switches and components are grounded through circuits 57 (BK) and 676 (PK/OG).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Illumination source

PINPOINT TEST E: A SINGLE ILLUMINATION SOURCE IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. Refer to Battery.

-------------------------------------------------
E1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE ILLUMINATION SOURCE

- Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.
- Ignition In ACC.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperative illumination source and ground as follows:

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to E2.

No
REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
E2 CHECK FOR GROUND TO THE INOPERATIVE LAMP(S)

- Ignition OFF.
- Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure the resistance between the inoperative illumination source and ground as follows:

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
INSTALL a new switch or component in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
