Test C: The Tilt and Telescope Adjustment Are Inoperative

TEST C: THE TILT AND TELESCOPE ADJUSTMENT ARE INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
The tilt/telescope switch is hardwired to the instrument cluster. Depending on the direction of the switch (UP/DOWN/IN/OUT), a signal is sent to the instrument cluster to activate the tilt or telescope motor. The steering column telescopic motor receives information from the steering column position sensor when a memory position is requested. The steering column position sensor sends the telescopic motor position information to the instrument cluster where it is stored and is used when several adjustable features are requested. The steering column position sensor sends the steering column telescopic position to the instrument cluster through circuit 8-AL16 (WH/BK).

Possible Causes
^ Circuit shorted
^ Circuit open
^ Steering column
^ Instrument cluster
^ Tilt/telescope switch
