Installation





DRIVE SHAFT: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft assembly with gear oil.

(b) Set the shaft snap ring with the opening side facing down.

(c) Align the shaft splines and tap in the drive shaft assembly with a brass bar and hammer.





NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot and oil seal.
* Move the drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.
* Bending or sliding the drive shaft excessively may cause the tripod joint to come out of its groove. Therefore, be careful when handing or installing the drive shaft.

2. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft assembly with gear oil.

(b) Install the drive shaft assembly.

(c) Using water pump pliers, install a new bearing bracket hole snap ring.





NOTICE:
* Do not damage the boot and oil seal.
* Move the drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.

(d) Install the bolt.

Torque : 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Before installing the bolt, check that there is rubber on the tip of the bolt. If there is no rubber on the bolt, use a new one.





(e) Install the wire harness bracket with the bolt.

Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

5. CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Installation

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

7. CONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Installation

8. CONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY RH

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

9. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Installation

11. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH





(a) Install the sensor with the bolt.

Torque : 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
* The speed sensor is easily damaged. When installing the speed sensor to the axle hub, do not use excessive force to rotate and install it.
* Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip.
* Do not drop the sensor. If the sensor has been dropped, replace the sensor with a new one.

12. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

HINT
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

13. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE





(a) LH:

(1) Connect the connector to the front speed sensor.

(2) Install the sensor clamp with the bolt.

Torque : 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)





(b) RH:

(1) Connect the connector to the front speed sensor.

(2) Install the sensor clamp with the bolt.

Torque : 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf)

14. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Installation

(a) Install the disc brake caliper with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 135 Nm (1377 kgf-cm, 100 ft-lbf)

18. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

19. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

(a) Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to perform this work for a new drive shaft.
* Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects.

(b) Using a 30 mm socket wrench, install a new axle shaft nut.

Torque : 294 Nm (2998 kgf-cm, 217 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Do not stake the shaft nut.

HINT
Stake the shaft nut after the axle hub bearing looseness and axle hub runout inspections.

20. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

21. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Removal

22. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH Removal

23. REMOVE FRONT DISC Removal

24. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS Front Axle Hub

25. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT Front Axle Hub

26. INSTALL FRONT DISC Installation

27. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH





(a) Install the disc brake caliper with 2 new bolts.

Torque : 135 Nm (1377 kgf-cm, 100 ft-lbf)





(b) Install the clamp bolt.

Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

28. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

29. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD WEAR INDICATOR WIRE ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side)





(a) Connect the connector.

(b) Attach the wire harness clamp.

30. STAKE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

(a) Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front axle shaft nut.





31. STAKE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

32. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque : 140 Nm (1428 kgf-cm, 103 ft-lbf)

33. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal Repair Instruction - Initialization.

34. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Installation

35. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

36. CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM

(a) Check the suspension control system Adjustments.

37. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

(a) Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment Front Wheel Alignment.

38. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL

(a) Check the speed sensor signal Test Mode Procedure.

39. ADJUST HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY

(a) for HID Headlight:

Adjust the headlight (for HID Headlight).

(b) for LED Headlight:

Adjust the headlight (for LED Headlight).

40. ADJUST OBJECT RECOGNITION CAMERA

(a) Adjust the object recognition camera Adjustments.
