BRAKE: BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER: REMOVAL
NOTICE:
While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal or open/close the doors while the battery is connected.
1. PRECAUTION

2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal
4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM LH Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM RH Removal
6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal
7. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH Removal
8. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH Removal
10. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL Removal
11. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH Removal
12. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH Removal
13. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER PROTECTOR LH Removal
14. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
15. DISCONNECT BRAKE ACCUMULATOR PUMP CONNECTORS Service and Repair
16. PERFORM ACCUMULATOR ZERO DOWN Service and Repair
17. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
18. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire) Removal
19. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal
20. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter Repair Instruction - Customize Parameters.
NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
HINT
Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the power switch is turned off.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column.
(c) Turn the power switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:
* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
21. DISCONNECT NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE Removal
22. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU Removal
23. DISCONNECT NO. 3 RELAY BLOCK Removal
24. REMOVE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR
(a) Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the reservoir.
(b) Detach the connector clamp from the reservoir bracket, and then disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector.
(c) Disconnect the No. 1 brake actuator hose from the reservoir.
(d) Release the locks of the reservoir connectors. Then disconnect the No. 2 brake actuator hose labeled A and No. 1 reservoir hose labeled B from the reservoir.
NOTICE:
* Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the reservoir and around the reservoir connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the reservoir and reservoir connector.
* Do not use any tools to separate the reservoir and reservoir connector.
* If the reservoir and reservoir connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the hose.
* Put the reservoir and reservoir connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and brake fluid reservoir.
25. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU BRACKET Removal
26. REMOVE NO. 1 RESERVOIR HOSE
(a) Remove the hose clip and No. 1 reservoir hose from the master cylinder.
(b) Remove the hose clip and reservoir connector from the No. 1 reservoir hose.
27. REMOVE RESERVOIR BRACKET
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and reservoir bracket.
28. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
29. DISCONNECT BRAKE TUBE Removal
30. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR AND BRAKE ACCUMULATOR PUMP ASSEMBLY Removal
31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH Removal
32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Removal
33. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING Removal
34. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Removal
35. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Removal
36. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
38. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
39. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
40. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
41. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING Removal
42. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN Removal
43. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WITH SIMULATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the brake stroke simulator connector.
(b) Remove the 4 nuts and brake master cylinder with simulator.
44. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET
(a) Remove the brake booster gasket from the brake master cylinder with simulator.
