ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK FUEL PUMP OPERATION
(a) Check the fuel pressure.
(1) Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
(2) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.
(3) Push the intelligent tester or Techstream main switch ON.
(4) Enter the following menus:
1 Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / TARGET FUEL PRS / USER DATA / FUEL PRESS.
2 Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Target Fuel Pressure / All Data / Fuel Press.
(5) Check that the fuel pressure fluctuates when the target fuel pressure changes.
HINT: The TARGET FUEL PRS (Control the Target Fuel Pressure) operation lowers the target fuel pressure by 12.5% or increases the target fuel pressure by 25%.
OK:
Fuel pressure fluctuates in accordance with tester operation.
If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump or fuel pressure sensor.
2. INSPECT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump assembly.
