2UR-FSE EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
CAUTION:
- The procedures should be performed by at least 2 people.
- Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe.
- The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
- Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.
HINT: When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.

1. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR Removal

2. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR Removal

3. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
4. REMOVE NO. 5 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the 2 clips, screw and protector.
5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH






(a) Remove the clip, nut, 2 screws, 3 bolts and cover.
6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH






(a) Remove the clip, nut, 2 screws, 3 bolts and cover.
7. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH






(a) Remove the 3 hole seals, 4 grommets and cover.
8. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH






(a) Remove the 3 hole seals, 4 grommets and cover.
9. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE






(a) Remove the 4 bolts and brace.






11. DISCONNECT EXHAUST PIPE AIR HOSE
12. REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(a) Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor Removal.
13. DISCONNECT NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)
NOTE: Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.





(a) Disconnect the grommet from the floor panel.
(b) Using SST, loosen the sensor, and then disconnect the sensor by hand.
HINT: Rotate the sensor counterclockwise to remove it from the front exhaust pipe, and record how many times it was rotated.

14. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY






(a) Disconnect the sensor connector.
(b) Temporarily loosen the 8 bolts and 4 nuts on the tailpipe and manifold sides.






(c) Remove the 4 nuts and 4 bolts from the exhaust manifold LH and RH side.
HINT: During removal, hold the front exhaust pipe.





(d) Remove the 4 bolts from the tailpipe LH and RH side. Then remove the front exhaust pipe.
HINT: During removal, hold the front exhaust pipe.





(e) Remove the 2 gaskets from the exhaust manifold LH and RH.






(f) Remove the 2 gaskets from the tailpipe side.
15. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)
NOTE: Do not strike the metal part of the sensor.





(a) Using SST, loosen the sensor and then remove the sensor by hand.

16. REMOVE TAILPIPE LH






(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.
17. REMOVE TAILPIPE RH






(a) Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports to remove the tailpipe.
18. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE DAMPER






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe damper from the tailpipe LH.






(b) Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pie damper from the tailpipe RH.
19. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
