A/T Shift Cable Adjustment
1. Remove the center console Center Console Removal/Installation.
2. Remove the nut securing the shift cable end.
3. Pry the socket holder lock (A) up using a screwdriver. If the socket holder lock is worn, damage, or cracked, replace it or the shift cable.
4. While holding the socket holder (A), rotate the socket holder retainer (B) fully counterclockwise, and press in the socket holder lock (C) between the holder and the retainer.
5. Slide the socket holder to remove the shift cable (A) from the socket holder bracket (B). Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable guide (C).

8. Place the shift lever in R, and turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).
9. Insert a 6.0 mm (0.24 in) pin (A) into the positioning holes (B) on the shift lever bracket, through the positioning hole on the shift lever, and into the positioning hole on the bracket. Use only a 6.0 mm (0.24 in) pin that is free any burrs.
10. Align the socket holder (C) with the slot (D) in the socket holder bracket (E), then slide the holder into the bracket.
NOTE: When the socket holder is installed in the shift cable bracket, the retainer lock is unhinged and releases the holder retainer lock, then the holder retainer returns under spring force to secure the shift cable.
11. Push the retainer lock (A) fully to lock the socket holder retainer (B), and make sure that the retainer lock fits into the hinged-joint (C). If the retainer lock does not fit with the edge of the hinged-joint, rotate the holder retainer counterclockwise while pushing the retainer lock until it locks.
12. Install the shift cable end (A) over the mounting stud (B) by aligning its square hole (C) with the square fitting (D) at the bottom of the stud. Do not install the shift cable by holding the shift cable guide (E).
13. Make sure that the shift cable end (A) is properly installed on the mounting stud (B).
14. If improperly installed, align the square fitting with the square hole by rotating the mounting stud.
15. Install and tighten the nut.
16. Remove the 6.0 mm (0.24 in) pin that was installed to hold the shift lever.
17. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Move the shift lever to each position, and check that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
18. Shift to P, and check that the shift lock works properly. Push the shift lock release, and check that the shift lever releases.
