DTC 108

DTC U0028 (108): F-CAN Malfunction (BUS-OFF (BCM Module))
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Check for IMA system Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0028 (108) indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM, the BCM module, and the MCM.

4. Check for IMA system and PGM-FI system Temporary DTCs or DTC with the HDS.
Is DTC U0028 indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Go to step 9.

5. Check for PGM-FI system Temporary DTCs or DTC with the HDS.
Is DTC U0028 indicated?
YES - Do the troubleshooting for DTC U0028.
NO - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM, then go to step 6.

6. Turn the ignition switch ON (III).
7. Reset the BCM module with the HDS.
8. Check for IMA system Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?
YES - If DTC U0028 (108) is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM, the BCM module, and the MCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
NO - Troubleshooting is complete.

9. Update the BCM module if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good BCM module.
10. Check for IMA system Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0028 (108) indicated?
YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM, the BCM module, and the MCM. If the BCM module was updated, substitute a known-good BCM module, then recheck. If the BCM module was substituted, go to step 1.
NO - If the BCM module was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the BCM module was substituted, replace the original BCM module. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
