DTC P2A00: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Range/Performance Problem

NOTE:
- Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to D17A6 engine (2001-2003 models).
- Information marked with double asterisks (**) applies to 2004-2005 models.

1. Reset the ECM/PCM.
2. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
3. Test-drive in S (M/T in 3rd gear). Starting at 1,600 rpm, accelerate using wide open throttle for at least 5 seconds. Then decelerate for at least 5 seconds with the throttle completely closed until the A/F monitor readiness code is set to complete or Temporary DTC P1164 (P2A00)* comes on.
4. Check for a temporary DTC with the HDS or a scan tool.

Is Temporary DTC P1164* (P2A00)** indicated?

YES - Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1).

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor relay, at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and at the ECM/PCM.
