DTC P1580 (65): Battery Current Sensor Circuit Problem
1. Reset the MCM.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 1 minute.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC P1580 indicated?
YES-Go to step 4.
NO-Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery current sensor and at the MCM.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Turn the battery module switch OFF.
6. Remove the IPU lid.
7. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).





8. Measure voltage between junction board 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.
Is there 23 - 24 V?
YES-Go to step 9.
NO-Go to step 13.
9. Reset the MCM.
10. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 1 minute.
11. Disconnect the junction board 3P connector.
12. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Is DTC P1580 indicated?
YES-Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good MCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good MCM, replace the original MCM
NO-Replace the battery module.
13. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
14. Disconnect the junction board 3P connector.
15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).





16. Measure voltage between junction board 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.
Is there 23 - 24 V?
YES-Replace the battery module.
NO-Go to step 17.
17. Turn the ignition switch OFF.





18. Check for continuity between MCM connector terminal B16 and junction board 3P connector terminal No. 1.
Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 19.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the battery current sensor and the MCM (B16).





19. Check for continuity between MCM connector terminal B24 and junction board 3P connector terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 20.
NO-Repair open in the wire between the battery current sensor and the MCM (B24).
20. Disconnect MCM connector B (24P).





21. Check for continuity between body ground and MCM connector terminal B16.
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short in the wire between the battery current sensor and the MCM (B16).
NO-Go to step 22.





22. Check for continuity between body ground and MCM connector terminal B24.
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short in the wire between the battery current sensor and the MCM (B24).
NO-Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good MCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good MCM, replace the original MCM.
