EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SOLENOID VACUUM VALVE CHECK
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39200 Digital Multimeter
J 36169 Fuse Jumper Wire
PROCEDURE
1. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum (EGR SV) valve from vehicle. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum Valve Replacement. Service and Repair
Measure
^ Using a J 39200, measure resistance between EGR SV valve terminals. Resistance 37-44 ohms at 20°C (68°F). Replace as necessary.
^ Using a J 39200, check for continuity between each terminal and the body of the EGR SV valve. Replace the EGR SV valve if continuity is detected.
2. Blow air through port "E" of the valve and make sure that air flows from port "E" through the valve and out of the filter. Replace EGR SV valve if air does not pass through valve.
3. Using two J 36169 fused jumpers, apply battery voltage across the terminals of the EGR SV Valve and blow air through port "E" making sure that air does NOT pass through valve and out of the filter. Replace EGR SV valve if air passes through valve.
4. Reinstall EGR SV valve. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum Valve Replacement.
