Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is within a specific range of "36 VLR" output voltage when the "36 VLR" output of the DERM is charged. Should the circuit short to ground between the "36 VLR" output, terminal "A2," and the arming sensor (CKT 236), "Ignition 1" voltage will be supplying the deployment loop. The voltage at the "Sense Low" input will decrease due to the lower supply voltage and DTC 32 will set after 700 milliseconds. DTC 32 indicates a short to ground in the wiring between the "36 VLR" output of the DERM and the arming sensor (CKT 236) and DTC 42 is set.

TEST CONDITIONS
Tested every 100 milliseconds during the "Continuous Monitoring Tests."

FAILURE CONDITIONS
DTC 32 will set if the voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is within a specific range of "Ignition 1" voltage for 700 milliseconds and DTC 42 is set.

ACTION TAKEN
The DERM illuminates the "INFL REST" indicator.

CONDITIONS TO CLEAR
Current DTC 32 will clear when the voltage at the "Sense Low" input, terminal "A6," is within a specific range of "36 VLR" output voltage for 500 milliseconds.

TEST DESCRIPTION:
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test checks to see if the DERM set the DTC falsely.
2. This test determines whether the fault is due to an internal short to ground in the arming sensor or a short to ground in the "36 VLR" CKT 236.
