Installation
1. Using the special tool, position the crankshaft rear oil seal with retainer plate onto the crankshaft.
2. Install the crankshaft rear seal with retainer plate and 6 bolts.
^ Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
3. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove traces of sealant.
Clean and inspect all the oil pan, cylinder block and front cover flange mating surfaces.
4. NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within 4 minutes of sealant application, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
NOTE: The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened within 4 minutes of applying the silicone gasket and sealant.
Apply a 2.5 mm (0.10 in) bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the oil pan.
^ Install the oil pan and the 2 bolts finger-tight.
5. Install the 4 front cover-to-oil pan bolts.
