Normal Operation
The instrument cluster uses 2 separate strategies, the parking brake and the brake fluid level status to operate the brake warning indicator. When the parking brake is applied, circuit 31S-GE44 (BK/RD) to the instrument cluster is grounded and the brake warning indicator illuminates. The brake warning indicator is hardwired to the instrument cluster on circuit 31S-GC6 (BK/YE). When the brake fluid level is low, the brake fluid level switch closes, applying a ground signal on circuit 91-GC7 (BK/BU) and illuminates the brake warning indicator.

Possible Causes
- Circuit 31S-GE44 (BK/RD) open, short to ground or voltage
- Circuit 31S-GC6 (BK/YE) open or short to ground
- Circuit 91-GC7 (BK/BU) open
- Parking brake switch
- Brake fluid level switch
- Instrument cluster
