Normal Operation
The generic electronic module (GEM) receives a release liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch command from the liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch or the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch sends a ground signal to the GEM on circuit 31S-AA30 (BK/YE) by connecting through the liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch to 31-AA30 (BK). The GEM sends voltage to the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch through circuit 32-AA29 (WH/GN). On 5-door and wagon vehicles, the latch is grounded on circuit 31-GL20 (BK). On sedan vehicles, the latch is grounded on circuit 31-AA27 (BK). The GEM monitors circuit 15S-AA17 (GN/WH) from the instrument cluster for a inhibit signal and does not release the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch if no voltage is present.
Possible Causes
- Circuit 15S-AA17 (GN/WH) open
- Circuit 31-AA27 (BK) open
- Circuit 31-AA30 (BK) open
- Circuit 31-GL20 (BK) open
- Circuit 31S-AA30 (BK/YE) open or short to ground
- Circuit 32-AA27 (WH/GN) open, short to ground or voltage
- Liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch
- Liftgate/luggage compartment lid release switch
