Normal Operation
The generic electronic module (GEM) receives a release liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch command from the liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch or the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch sends a ground signal to the GEM on circuit 31S-AA30 (BK/YE) by connecting through the liftgate/luggage compartment lid switch to 31S-AA30 (BK). The GEM internally sends voltage to the relay, on sedan vehicles, or the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch, on 5-door or wagon vehicles. On 5-door and wagon vehicles, the latch receives voltage on circuit 32-AA27 (WH/GN) and is grounded on circuit 31S-AA27 (BK) and releases. On sedan vehicles, the liftgate/luggage compartment lid relay is grounded on circuit 31-AA51 (BK) and the relay closes, supplying voltage to the relay on circuit 32-AA27 (WH/GN) and releasing the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch. The GEM monitors circuit 15S-AA17 (GN/WH) from the instrument cluster for a inhibit signal and does not release the liftgate/luggage compartment lid latch if no voltage is present.
