CAUTION: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
Normal Operation
The steering column tilt motor receives information from the potentiometer when a memory position is requested. The potentiometer sends the tilt motor position information to the instrument cluster where it is stored and is used when several adjustable features are requested. The potentiometer sends the steering column tilt position to the instrument cluster through circuit 8-AL17 (WH/VT), and circuit 33-AL6 (YE/BU) powers the tilt motor.
Possible Causes
^ circuit 8-AL17 (WH/VT) open, short to voltage or ground
^ tilt motor potentiometer
^ steering column mechanical component
^ instrument cluster
