F: 3-4 Shift Solenoid

Transmission Range Sensor (TR) Circuit Malfunction

F1 Check Voltage To The TR Sensor

- Key OFF.
- Disconnect the Transmission Range (TR) sensor C168.
- Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
- Measure the voltage between TR sensor C168 circuit 41 (BK/Y) and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
Go to F2
No
REPAIR circuit 41 (BK/Y).

F2 Check TR Sensor Circuits
- Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) C245.
- Connect Rotunda 104-Pin Breakout Box 014-00950 or equivalent and Breakout Box Adapter T96P-12A650-C.

Transmission Range Sensor Circuits:






- Measure the resistance between TR sensor C168 and the Breakout Box Test Pins as shown.
Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to F3.
No
REPAIR the circuit in question.

F3 Check The TR Sensor
Measure the resistance between TR sensor terminals with the gearshift selector in the indicated position, as shown.

Transmission Range Sensor Inputs:






Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
- REPLACE the PCM.
- RESTORE vehicle.
- RETEST system.
No
- REPLACE the TR sensor.
- RESTORE vehicle.
- RETEST system.
