B - Brake Warning Indicator Always ON
B1- Brake Fluid Level- Check brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level.
- Is fluid level good ?
YES - Go to B2.
NO - Go to B3.
B2- Check Parking Brake Control
- Apply and fully release park brake.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Did brakes release ?
YES - Go to B4.
NO - Service parking brake system. Testing and Inspection
B3- Brake System Leakage
- Check brake master cylinder reservoir sealing pints and external brake system for leakage. Refer to Hydraulic System. Testing and Inspection
- Does system leak ?
YES - Service as necessary, add fluid and bleed serviced component. Refer to Hydraulic System for bleeding procedures.
NO - Fill brake master cylinder reservoir and go to B4.
B4- Ignition Wiring Check
- Check that ignition wiring is not within a 50.8 mm (2 inch) radius of the reed switch fluid level indicator assembly.
- Is ignition wiring OK ?
YES - Go to B5.
NO - Reroute wiring as necessary.
B5- Float Assembly Check
- Check if float is stuck or magnet is dislodged from the float.
- Is float functional ?
YES - Go to B6.
NO - Replace brake master cylinder reservoir assembly. Refer To Brakes - Hydraulic System. Brake Master Cylinder
B6- Check Fluid Level Switch
- Disconnect 3-pin plug on master cylinder fluid brake reservoir.
- Check resistance between outside two pins on reservoir.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less ?
YES - Replace fluid level switch.
NO - Go to B7.
B7- Check for Ground Concern
- Check for resistance between circuit 57 (BK) and circuit 977 (P/W) on connector C164.
- Is resistance more than 10,000 ohms ?
YES - Go to B8.
NO - Service or replace circuit 977 (P/W).
B8- Check for Ground Concern
- Check for resistance between circuit 57 (BK) and circuit 128 (P/Y) on connector C164.
- Is resistance more than 10,000 ohms ?
YES - Re-verify warning lamp operation.
NO - Service or replace circuit 128 (P/Y).
