D DTC 34, 44 LR Sensor
D1- Check Resistance Circuits 496 and 499- Disconnect 16-pin connector C140 on jumper from ABS assembly to wire harness.
- Measure resistance between pins C140-1 and C140-6 on Wire harness side connector.
- Is resistance between 2187 and 2673 ohms?
YES - Go to D3.
NO - Go to D2.
D2- Check Anti-Lock Sensor Resistance
- Disconnect LH rear sensor from wire harness.
- Measure resistance between pins C320M-1 and C320M-2 on sensor.
- Is resistance between 2187 and 2673 ohms?
YES - Service or replace cable harness circuit 496 (O) or 499 (GY/BK).
NO - Replace LH rear anti-lock brake sensor. Wheel Speed Sensor
D3- Check Circuits 496 and 499 at Jumper Harness
- Remove cover from hydraulic control module.
- Disconnect jumper harness from anti-lock brake control module.
- Check for broken or damaged wire in jumper between C140-1 (16-pin side) and C142-13 or between C140-6 (16-pin side) and C142-5.
- Are both wires OK?
YES - Go to D4.
NO - Service or replace broken or damaged wire in jumper.
D4- Check Anti-Lock Sensor For Short To Ground
- Remove cover from hydraulic control unit.
- Disconnect jumper harness from anti-lock brake control module.
- Check for a short from ground to Pin C142-5.
- Check for a short from ground to Pin C142-13.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES - Service or replace jumper circuit 496 (O) or 499 (GY/BK), or LH rear anti-lock brake sensor.
NO - Go to D5.
D5- Check LH Rear Anti-lock Brake Sensor Air Gap
- Remove the LH rear wheel and tire.
- Check for damage to the rear anti-lock brake sensor or anti-lock sensor indicator.
- Check for objects sticking to the rear anti-lock brake sensor or anti-lock sensor indicator.
- Check air gap between the sensor and indicator. Gap should be 0.6-1.6 mm (0.024-0.063 inch).
- Check for excessive wheel bearing end play. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Are the conditions OK?
YES - If the light is coming on all the time, replace the anti-lock brake control module.
NO - Service condition as required.
