B: ELEC. DOOR ACTUATOR MOTOR INOP, INTERMITTENT OR IMPROPER

PINPOINT TEST B: A/C ELECTRONIC DOOR ACTUATOR MOTOR INOPERATIVE, INTERMITTENT OR IMPROPER OPERATION

B1 CHECK CODES

NOTE: Letters in parentheses indicate (wire color, circuit number).

- Perform Self Test and check error codes.

- Is error code 020 or 021 displayed?

- Yes
Go to B2.

- No
Review Error Code Chart if other error codes are displayed. If no Error Codes, perform Pinpoint Test A.

B2 CHECK ACTUATOR DRIVE

- Disconnect both electrical connectors from rear of EATC control assembly. Operate the A/C electronic door actuator motor in both directions using any 12-volt battery. The following pins can be jumped to use the vehicle battery. Make sure the ignition switch is in the RUN position. All pins are located in the C1 (LH) harness connector.

- Trial 1: Pin 24 (BK, 57) to Pin 22 (P, 246).
- Trial 2: Pin 24 (BK, 57) to Pin 21 (BR/LG, 245).

- Does the A/C electronic door actuator motor drive in both directions?

- Yes
Go to B3.

- No
Go to B6.

B3 PERFORM EATC FUNCTIONAL TEST

- Reconnect wire harness connectors and perform EATC Functional Test to check system operation.

- Is test successful?

- Yes
System OK. Restore vehicle.

- No
Go to B4.

B4 CHECK RESISTANCES

- Drive the blend door actuator to the full CCW position (MAX heat).
- Disconnect both harness connectors from rear of EATC Control Assembly. Measure resistance between the pins shown below at the control assembly C2 (RH) harness connector.

- Pin 15 (R/LG, 436) to Pin 6 (R/W, 438) - 5000-7000 ohms
- Pin 5 (Y/LG, 437) to Pin 6 (R/W, 438) - 3500-6000 ohms
- Pin 5 (Y/LG, 437) to Pin 15 (R/LG, 436) - 250-1500 ohms

- Are all resistances within value given?

- Yes
Go to B5.

- No
Go to B6.

B5 RETEST EATC SYSTEM

- Reconnect harness connectors and perform EATC Self Test, Pinpoint Test Step A1.

- Is test successful?

- Yes
System OK. Restore vehicle.

- No
Go to B1.

B6 CHECK CONTINUITY

- Check vehicle wiring harness and connector continuity as shown below. Disconnect both harness connectors from rear of control assembly and the A/C electronic door actuator motor. The actuator connector is accessible through the glove compartment.

- Reconnect all three harness connectors at end of this test.

- Is there continuity on all six wires?

- Yes
Replace A/C electronic door actuator motor. Go to B7.

- No
Go to B8.

B7 RETEST AFTER CHANGING BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR

- After replacing A/C electronic door actuator motor, perform Pinpoint Test Step A1.

- Is test successful?

- Yes
Test complete.

- No
Go to B1.

B8 RETEST AFTER SERVICING WIRING HARNESS

- Service/replace wiring harness. Reconnect and perform Pinpoint Test Step A1.

- Is test successful?

- Yes
Test complete.

- No
Go to B1.
