G - Up/Down Tilting Operation Does Not Work Properly
Pinpoint Test G - Up/Down Tilting Operation Does Not Work ProperlyG1 - Check Seat Motor Upward/Downward Operation
- Disconnect power motor connector.
- Using a jumper wire connected to battery positive, connect other end to driver seat switch connector pin 5, circuit 978 (Y/LB), Town Car, circuit 990 (Y/LB), Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, passenger seat switch connector pin 5, circuit 984 (Y/LB).
- Using a second jumper wire, connect one end to driver seat switch connector pin 6, circuit 979 (R/LB), passenger seat switch connector pin 6, circuit 985 (R/LB), momentarily connect other end of switch connector to a known good ground.
- Reverse jumper wires and observe motor operation.
Did seat move properly?
YES LEAVE jumper wires connected to supply, being careful to not touch ground. GO to G2.
NO REPLACE power seat motor assembly. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
G2 - Power Seat Motor Tilting Circuits
- Reconnect power seat motor.
- Disconnect seat regulator control switch.
- Using a jumper wire connected to battery positive, connect other end to driver seat switch connector pin 1 (Town Car), 3 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 979 (R/LB), passenger seat switch connector pin 1, circuit 985 (R/LB).
- Using a second jumper wire, connect one end to driver seat switch connector pin 2, circuit 978 (Y/LB) (Town Car), pin 9, circuit 990 (Y/LB) (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), passenger seat switch connector pin 2 (Town Car), 9 (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis), circuit 984 (Y/LB), refer to connector end views, momentarily connect other end to a known good ground.
- Observe motor operation as jumper wire is grounded.
- Reverse jumper wires and observe motor operation.
Did seat move properly?
YES TEST power seat switch. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE suspect circuit for open RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
