Supercharger Assembly
IMPORTANT:- Before any supercharger service, clean areas around supercharger assembly. Cover openings of the engine and supercharger to prevent damage by foreign material.
- The supercharger is serviced by replacement only.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
2. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove cowl vent screens.
4. Partially drain cooling system.
5. Disconnect RH side plug wires at coil assembly, and position out of the way. Disconnect electrical connections at the idle air control valve, throttle position sensor and intake air temperature sensor.
6. Disconnect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tubes from EGR valve.
7. Remove the EGR transducer.
8. Disconnect accelerator cable at throttle body. Remove accelerator cable retaining bolts and position bracket out of the way. Disconnect speed control (if equipped).
9. Remove supercharger drive belt.
10. Remove charge air cooler inlet and charge air cooler outlet tubes.
11. Remove three charge air cooler to intake manifold adapter retaining bolts.
12. Remove three supercharger retaining bolts.
13. Lift supercharger and charge air cooler to intake manifold adapter from vehicle as a unit.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean and inspect all gasket surfaces.
2. Position new gasket on lower intake manifold using guide pins, if available.
3. Install supercharger, and charge air cooler to intake manifold adapter as a unit.
4. Tighten
- Two 8mm bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb ft).
- 12mm bolt to 70-95 Nm (52-70 lb ft).
5. Install three charge air cooler to intake manifold adapter retaining bolts. Tighten to 26-38 Nm (20-28 lb ft).
6. Install charge air cooler tubes.
Supercharger Belt Routing:
7. Install supercharger drive belt.
8. Install EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to EGR valve.
9. Install accelerator cable bracket and connect accelerator cable. Tighten retaining bolt to 14-20 Nm (10-15 ft lb).
10. Connect vacuum lines to supercharger bypass valve actuator and fuel pressure regulator.
11. Install RH plug wires. Connect electrical connectors at idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, EGR transducer and intake air temperature sensor.
12. Install cowl vent screens.
13. Install air cleaner outlet tube.
14. Connect battery ground cable.
15. Start engine and check for proper operation and leaks using propane.
