EVAP 8 - Check Canister Purge Valve Mechanically

Canister Purge Valve:

^ Apply 5 to 10 in-Hg to the VAC port (3/8 inch) and regulator port (5/32 Inch) of the valve and hold.

^ Apply 12 volts to the coil assembly as shown in test step EVAP7.

^ Measure air flow at the CAN port (7/16 inch).

NOTE: Flow should be about 1.4 cubic foot per minute.

^ Do-energize the coil assembly.

^ Does the flow shut off?

YES -- Evaporative emission system is functioning properly. Return to diagnostic routine system flow charts. Testing and Inspection

NO -- Replace canister purge valve.
