NAB: No Air Bag Indicator
Electrical Schematic:
Normal Operation
The air bag lamp is designed to illuminate for 6 (± 2) seconds when the ignition key is turned to the ON position. This initial 6 seconds of air bag lamp illumination (continuous lamp) is considered normal operation and is called "prove out" of the air bag lamp.
The diagnostic monitor requires power at pins 1 and 6 in order to energize the air bag lamp circuit. If the air bag lamp circuit is open or the diagnostic monitor does not have ignition voltage at pins 1 and 6, the air bag lamp will not illuminate.
Possible Causes
A No Air Bag Lamp condition can be caused by:
1. A burned out bulb or an open circuit in the wiring for the air bag lamp circuit.
2. Loss of ignition voltage at pins 1 and 6 of the diagnostic monitor.
