Instrument Panel - Installation
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Use care not to scratch or damage interior trim and decorative surfaces of the instrument panel while installing the instrument panel.
1. With the help of an assistant, carefully place the instrument panel (3) in place inside of vehicle.
2. Connect the white electrical connector along the right side above the location of the right side grounds.
3. Position the instrument panel to the dash panel (1).
4. In the engine compartment, install the ten nuts to the instrument panel studs (5). Tighten the nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
5. Place HVAC exterior intake plenum into place and install four screws.
6. Install the wiper module Wiper Arm Linkage - Installation.
7. Place right and left instrument panel speaker grilles (4) into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
NOTE: Right side shown. Left side similar.
8. Connect the two occupant restraint controller electrical connectors.
9. Connect the occupant restraint controller ground wires.
10. Connect electrical connectors to radio and install radio and four retaining screws.
11. Connect the radio antenna connector (1) to the connector on the windshield (2).
12. Connect electrical connector at the left A-pillar.
13. Place left and right A-pillar trim panels (3) into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
14. Connect the three right side electrical connectors (1) and install ground wire (2) and retaining bolt (3). Tighten the bolt securely.
15. Install the left and right side instrument panel retaining bolts (1 and 3). Tighten bolts to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
16. Reach up underneath the instrument panel (2) and connect the passenger airbag electrical connector.
17. Install the left brace (1) and retaining nut and bolt. Tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
18. Install ground wire (2) and retaining nuts (1) at left floor tunnel. Tighten the nuts securely.
19. Connect the five left side electrical connectors (1) and install ground wire (3) and retaining bolt (4). Tighten the bolt securely.
CAUTION: Do not remove or adjust the brake lamp switch. If the switch is removed readjusted, it must be replaced with a new one.
20. Connect the wire harness lead (4) to the brake lamp switch (3).
21. Connect the pedal servo electrical connector.
CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate during installation. If the wheel is rotated it could damage the clock spring within the steering column.
22. Place steering column (5) into position and install the four retaining nuts.
23. Tighten steering column pinch bolt.
24. Connect five steering column electrical connectors (1, 2, 3, 4, and 6).
25. Install screws to upper and lower steering column shrouds (4 and 8).
26. Connect one electrical connector on cluster bezel, place in position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
27. Install the cluster bezel Instrument Cluster Bezel - Installation.
28. Install the steering column opening cover Steering Column Opening Cover - Installation.
NOTE: Left side shown. Right side similar.
29. Place left and right cowl kick panels into position over retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
30. Install one screw at rear of each cowl and two push pins (3).
31. Place the left and right sill plate (1) into position over the retaining slots and firmly snap into place.
32. Connect the negative battery cable and install battery access cover.
