Vibration Damper - Installation
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Inspect the crankshaft nose for high spots and remove as necessary.
NOTE: Lubricate the threads of Crankshaft Damper Installer 9943 (2) using Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-seize Compound or equivalent, before beginning crankshaft damper installation.
1. Install crankshaft damper (1) using Crankshaft Damper Installer 9943 (2).
2. Place transmission in fourth gear, apply parking brake and block wheels.
3. Install and tighten damper bolt to 339 Nm (250 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the crankshaft pulley. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.).
5. Lower engine with floor jack while guiding engine mount studs (1) into frame slots.
6. Install accessory drive belt Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Installation.
NOTE: Verify that the damper is fully seated against the crankshaft. The accessory drive belt should align with all other pulleys.
7. Install air cleaner housing Air Cleaner Body - Installation.
8. Raise vehicle on hoist.
9. Install engine mount isolator nut (2). Tighten nut to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.).
10. Lower vehicle.
