Power Brake Booster - Installation






INSTALLATION










NOTE: When installing power brake booster, install a NEW gasket (1) on rear of booster.











1. Align mounting studs (2) on back of power brake booster with holes in dash panel and install booster firmly against dash panel (1).
2. Install and tighten four nuts mounting power brake booster and pedals assembly (3) to dash panel. Tighten nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).










3. Using lubriplate, or equivalent, coat contact surface of brake pedal pin (2).
4. Slide power brake booster input rod (3) onto brake pedal pin (2) and install a NEW retainer clip (1). Use only a new retainer clip. DO NOT USE OLD CLIP.










5. Connect vacuum hoses (5) from intake manifold to check valve (4) located on booster.

6. Install master cylinder. Brake Master Cylinder - Installation.

CAUTION: Do not reuse the original stop lamp switch. Anytime a switch has been removed or its position compromised, a new switch must be installed and adjusted. Do not attempt to readjust the switch.

7. Install NEW brake lamp switch and adjust. Do not reuse old switch.Stop Lamp Switch - Installation
8. Connect battery negative (-) cable to battery.
9. Bleed brake system as necessary. Service and Repair
10. Check operation of brakes and stop lamps.
