A/C Suction Line - Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation Warning and Caution . Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: The A/C suction line is serviced in two sections. The front section connects between the A/C accumulator and the A/C compressor. The rear section connects between the A/C evaporator and the A/C accumulator and includes the low side service port.

FRONT SECTION





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
3. Remove the bolt (7) that secures the A/C suction line (6) to the right inner front fender (4).





4. Remove the bolt (2) that secures the A/C suction line (5) to the A/C compressor (7).
5. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the O-ring seal.





6. Raise and support the vehicle.
7. Remove the right front wheel.
8. Remove the right inner fender splash shield.
9. Remove the bolts that secure the two suction line brackets to the front of the engine.
10. Remove the bolt (5) that secures the front section of the A/C suction line (4) to the A/C accumulator (2).
11. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C accumulator and remove and discard the O-ring seal.
12. Remove the front section of the A/C suction line from the engine compartment.
13. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings and the compressor and accumulator ports.

REAR SECTION





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
3. Loosen the fitting nut that secures the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C evaporator (3).
4. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C evaporator and remove and discard the O-ring seal.





5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the right front wheel.
7. Remove the right inner fender splash shield.
8. Remove the bolt (5) that secures the rear section of the A/C suction line (6) to the A/C accumulator (2).
9. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C accumulator and remove and discard the O-ring seal.
10. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings and the accumulator and evaporator ports.
11. Remove the rear section of the A/C suction line from the engine compartment.
