Power Brake Booster - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: Review all Warnings and Cautions. Service Precautions
1. Disconnect battery negative (-) terminal.
2. Remove master cylinder from power brake booster. Brake Master Cylinder - Removal
3. Disconnect vacuum supply hoses (5) from intake manifold at booster check valve (3). Do not remove the check valve from the power brake booster.
4. Remove brake lamp switch and discard. Do not reuse switch.Stop Lamp Switch - Removal
5. Position a small screwdriver (3) under center tang on booster input rod retaining clip (2). Lift center tang high enough to clear end of pedal pin, then slide clip off pedal pin and discard. Do not reuse clip.
6. Slide booster input rod (3) off brake pedal pin (2).
7. Remove four nuts that attach booster to pedals assembly (3) and vehicle.
8. Under hood, slide booster up and forward until mounting studs on rear of booster are past dash panel, then remove booster from vehicle.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to disassemble power brake unit as this booster is serviced ONLY as a complete assembly.
