Brake and/or Accelerator Pedals - Removal






REMOVAL

NOTE: Review all Warnings and Cautions. Service Precautions

1. Disconnect battery negative (-) cable from battery and isolate.
2. Access and remove steering column from vehicle. Steering Column - Removal
3. Remove brake lamp switch and discard. Do not reuse switch.Stop Lamp Switch - Removal









4. Disconnect wiring connector (2) at pedal motor (1).










5. Unclip and remove clutch push rod from clutch pedal pin (2).










6. Disconnect brake booster input rod from brake pedal as follows:
a. Position a small screwdriver under center tang on booster input rod retaining clip (1).
b. Lift center tang high enough to clear end of pedal pin (2), then slide clip off pedal pin and discard. Do not reuse clip.
c. Slide booster input rod (3) off brake pedal pin.

7. Disconnect electronic throttle control wiring connector at accelerator pedal.









8. Remove nuts that mount accelerator pedal (2).










9. Remove four nuts that attach pedals assembly (3) to power brake booster.
10. Remove two nuts that attach pedals assembly (3) to dash (1).

11. Under hood, pull booster/master cylinder forward into engine compartment as far as possible by hand.









12. Reposition pedal assembly and remove wiring components (2) clipped to bracket (1) on left side of pedals assembly.

13. Pull pedals assembly up into column opening to clear clutch and booster rods, then rotate booster mounted end of pedals assembly down and out to remove from under instrument panel.
