Driver Airbag - Removal

REMOVAL





CAUTION: When removing a DEPLOYED airbag, rubber gloves, eye protection and long sleeved shirt should be worn, as there may be deposits on the surface which could irritate the skin and eyes. Refer to SERVICE AFTER AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.

1. Open deck lid.
2. Remove four bolts to battery compartment cover and remove cover.
3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

WARNING: Wait two minutes for the system reserve capacitor to discharge before servicing any airbag components. Failure to do this may result in serious or fatal injury.

4. Remove three bolts (5) retaining Driver Airbag (DAB) (1).
5. Lift airbag (1) out of steering wheel and disconnect DAB (6) and horn switch (2) wire connectors.
6. Remove DAB (1) from vehicle.

WARNING: When replacing a deployed DAB, the clockspring must also be replaced Removal.
