Engine Oil Pump - Assembly

ASSEMBLY





1. Assemble pump using new parts as required.
2. Lubricate oil pressure relief valve with clean engine oil.
3. Install oil pressure relief valve (2).
4. Inspect relief valve plug o-ring (3). Replace as necessary.
5. Tighten plug to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.).




CAUTION: Prime oil pump before installation by filling rotor cavity with engine oil. Failure to prime the oil pump could cause engine damage.

6. Install pump rotors with chamfer side to the inside of chain case cover.
7. Install oil pump cover and screws.
8. Tighten cover screws to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) as shown.
