Removal Procedure


Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
2. Remove the front door opening weather-strips. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Opening (Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Opening) in Doors.
3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Sunshade Replacement) .
4. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Overhead (Single) (Console Replacement - Overhead (Single))Console Replacement - Overhead (Dual) (Console Replacement - Overhead (Dual))Console Replacement - Overhead (CF5) (Console Replacement - Overhead (CF5)) .
5. Remove the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement (Without U42) Dome Lamp Replacement (With U2) Dome Lamp Replacement (Overhead Console DVD).
6. Remove the rear headliner trim finishing molding. Refer to Headlining Trim Finish Molding Replacement (Headlining Trim Finish Molding Replacement) .
7. Remove the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Upper (Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Upper) .
9. Remove the rear corner upper garnish molding. Refer to Finish Panel Replacement - Upper Rear Trim (Finish Panel Replacement - Upper Rear Trim) .
10. Remove the reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement.
11. Remove the rear fan/temperature controls. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement - Auxiliary.
12. Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement.
13. Remove the liftgate weather-strips. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) in Body Rear End.
14. Remove the roof auxiliary air outlets, if equipped. Refer to Air Outlet Ducts Replacement - Auxiliary.




15. Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
16. Push the headliner forward in order to release the locking tab at the front overhead console.
17. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
2. Align the locking tab at the front overhead console.
3. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.




4. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
5. Install the roof auxiliary air outlets, if equipped. Refer to Air Outlet Ducts Replacement - Auxiliary.
6. Install the liftgate weather-strips. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) in Body Rear End.
7. Install the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement.
8. Install the rear fan/temperature controls. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement - Auxiliary.
9. Install the reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement.
10. Install the rear corner upper garnish molding. Refer to Finish Panel Replacement - Upper Rear Trim (Finish Panel Replacement - Upper Rear Trim) .
11. Install the body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Upper (Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Upper) .
12. Install the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar (Service and Repair) .
13. Install the rear headliner trim finishing molding. Refer to Headlining Trim Finish Molding Replacement (Headlining Trim Finish Molding Replacement) .
14. Install the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement (Without U42) Dome Lamp Replacement (With U2) Dome Lamp Replacement (Overhead Console DVD).
15. Install the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Overhead (Single) (Console Replacement - Overhead (Single))Console Replacement - Overhead (Dual) (Console Replacement - Overhead (Dual))Console Replacement - Overhead (CF5) (Console Replacement - Overhead (CF5)) .
16. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Sunshade Replacement) .

18. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) .
