Shift Cable Replacement (Steering Column)

Removal Procedure

1. Engage the park brake.
2. Make sure the ignition is in the OFF position.




3. Remove the clips securing the shift cable to the transmission.
4. Remove the cotter pin and the clevis pin securing the clevis to the transmission shift lever.




5. Remove the cotter pin and the clevis pin (3) securing the shift cable clevis (2) to the steering column (1).
6. Remove the shift cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the shift cable to the vehicle.




2. Install the cotter pin and the clevis pin (3) in order to secure the shift cable clevis (2) to the steering column (1).




3. Install the cotter pin and the clevis pin in order to secure the clevis to the transmission shift lever.
4. Install the clips in order to secure the shift cable to the transmission.
5. Start the engine.
6. Test the shift operation of the transmission.
