Engine Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the engine oil cooler lines from the radiator.
2. Disconnect the engine oil cooler lines from the engine.
3. Use a small pick-type tool in order to rotate the clip out of the connector.




4. Place a drain pan under the engine oil cooler line connectors.
5. Disconnect the cooler lines from the engine oil cooler. Use a small pick-type tool in order to rotate the clip out of the connector.

Installation Procedure




1. Replace the engine oil cooler lines to the original routing.

Notice: Make sure the connector clip engages all three slots in the connector. Failure to properly install the connector clip could cause the oil cooler line to come loose and cause damage to the engine.

2. Use the following steps in order to install the quick connector clips to the connector:

1. Using you thumb and forefinger, insert the connector clip into one of the three recesses in the connector.
2. Ensure that one end of the clip is engaged in the connector slot.
3. Rotate the clip around the connector until all three of the tabs snap into place.

3. Use the following steps in order to connect the engine oil cooler line to the quick connector on the engine side:

1. Fully insert the oil cooler line into the quick connector.
2. Listen for a distinct snapping sound when the oil cooler line is assembled to the quick connector.
3. Forcefully pull on the fitting in order to check the insertion.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Connect the cooler line (2) to the engine oil cooler.

Tighten the engine oil cooler line flare nut to 24 Nm (18 lb ft).

5. Tighten the engine cooler line quick connector clip.




6. Connect the engine oil cooler lines to the radiator.
7. Refill the engine oil to the correct level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.
8. Start the engine.
9. Inspect the system for leaks.
