Underhood Fuse Block Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left rear fender brace.
3. Remove the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) cover.




4. Remove the positive battery cable bolt from the UBEC.




5. Remove the chassis harness from the UBEC.




6. Unsnap the UBEC from the bracket and pivot upward to access the connectors.
7. Remove the forward lamp harness (32 way) connector from the UBEC.




8. Remove the instrument panel harness (68 way) connector and the instrument panel harness (2 way) connector from the UBEC.




9. Remove the engine harness (68 way) connector and the engine harness (1 way) connector from the UBEC.




10. Remove the chassis harness (32 way) connector and the chassis harness (2 way) connector from the UBEC.




11. Unsnap and remove the UBEC from the mounting bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Snap the UBEC into the mounting bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the chassis harness (32 way) connector and the chassis harness (2 way) connector to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




3. Install the engine harness (68 way) connector and the engine harness (1 way) connector to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




4. Install the instrument panel harness (68 way) connector and the instrument panel harness (2 way) connector to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




5. Install the forward lamp harness (32 way) connector to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

6. Snap the UBEC to the bracket to close.




7. Install the chassis harness to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




8. Install the positive battery cable bolt to the UBEC.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




9. Install the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) cover.
10. Install the left rear fender brace.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
