Chart C Air Bag Warning Lamp Does Not Comes ON

Diagnostic Chart:

Diagnostic Chart:

Wiring Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is first turned to "RUN," "Ignition 1" voltage is applied from the "GAUGES" fuse to the "AIR BAG" warning lamp which is connected to "SIR Indicator," terminal "7" of the SDM. The "AIR BAG" fuse applies system voltage to the "Ignition 1" input, terminal "10." The SDM responds by flashing the "AIR BAG" warning lamp seven times. If "Ignition 1" is outside of the normal operating voltage range, the "AIR BAG" warning lamp will come "ON" solid with no DTCs set.

CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. If the "BRAKE" lamp is operational, then the power feed up to terminal "B17" of the instrument cluster is good.
2. This test checks for system voltage in the warning lamp circuit.
3. This test isolates the malfunction to either the warning lamp bulb or instrument cluster circuitry.
4. This test checks for an open in CKT 358.
5. This test checks for a short to B+ in CKT 358.
6. This test checks if power is available to the instrument cluster power feed circuit.
7. This test checks for short to ground in CI 8. This test isolates the short to either CKT 39 or the instrument cluster.
9. This test isolates the open in the instrument cluster power feed to the GAUGES" fuse feed, or CKT 39.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The "GAUGES" fuse supplies power to the instrument cluster gages and many of the tell-tales. If these are inoperative, look for an open or high resistance in CKT 39.
