Shock Absorber Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe).

* For the sedan, refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan)Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe).

* For the station wagon, refer to Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon) Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon).

2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the electronic suspension, if equipped.





3. Remove the upper shock mounting nuts (1).

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





5. Remove the lower shock mounting bolt.





6. Remove the shock from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the shock to the vehicle.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the lower shock mounting bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 150 Nm (111 lb ft).





3. Guide the shock to the body while lowering the vehicle.





4. Install the upper shock mounting nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

5. Reconnect electrical connector for the electronic suspension, if equipped.

6. Install the rear compartment side trim panel.

* For the station wagon, refer to Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon) Body Side Lower Trim Panel Replacement (Wagon).
