Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise the hood.
2. Pull the hood release lever bracket rearward to remove.
3. Remove the hood release lever bracket from the A-Pillar mount.
4. Release the self-locking screw on the left (driver's side) radiator cover.
5. Remove the left radiator cover.
6. Remove the cable retainer screw.
7. Remove the cable retainer bracket.
8. Remove the air inlet duct screws.
9. Reposition the duct.
10. Compress the spring and the hood release cable.
11. Remove the hood release cable from the spring.
12. Attach mechanics wire to the end of the cable to assist routing the cable back through the cowl and the strut tower.
13. Pull the release cable through the cowl.

Installation Procedure




1. Route the release cable back through the cowl.
2. Perform the following steps to install the hood release cable to the spring:

1. Compress the spring.
2. Install the hood release cable to the spring.

3. Install the cable retainer bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Important: DO NOT strip the cable retainer bracket screw.


4. Install the cable retainer screw.

Tighten the cable retainer bracket screw until fully seated.

5. Position the air inlet duct.

Important: DO NOT strip the air inlet duct screws.


6. Install the air inlet duct screws.

Tighten the air inlet duct screws until fully seated.

7. Install the left radiator cover.
8. Install the self-locking screw until fully seated.
9. Perform the following steps to install the hood release lever bracket to the A-Pillar mount:

1. Push the hood release lever bracket forward.
2. Snap the hood release lever bracket in place.

10. Lower the hood.
