Front Seat Cushion Replacement

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover


Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Adjust the front seat assembly up and forward in order to access the fasteners (1) at the rear of the front seat cushion assembly
3. Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (1), at the rear of the seat cushion.




4. Adjust the front seat assembly towards the rear of the vehicle.
5. Angle the front of the front seat cushion (1) up, in order to access the remaining front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
6. Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
7. Lift the front seat cushion assembly (1) away from the seat riser assembly.




8. Disconnect the heated seat cushion electrical connector, if equipped with KA1.
9. Disconnect the air lines for the adaptive lumbar, if equipped with AC9.
10. Disconnect the wire harnesses retainers from the bottom of the seat cushion frame.

Important: The lumbar switch knob (1) is part of the lumbar switch assembly. Do not remove the lumbar switch knob.






11. Remove the knobs (5,6) from the seat switch.




12. Remove the seat switch trim plate.




13. Pull the front seat cushion cover up in order to expose the seat switch.
14. Using the J 38778 remove the switch bracket retainers.




15. Release the locking tabs on the switch mounting bracket, and remove the switches and bracket assembly from the seat bottom frame.
16. Remove the seat cushion assembly.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the seat switch to the seat cushion frame.




2. Pull the seat cushion cover over the seat switch and align holes in the cover to the switch assembly.
3. Engage the J channels to the seat cushion frame.
4. Install the seat switch trim plate bezel.




5. Install the knobs (5,6) to the switch.




6. Connect the heated seat cushion electrical connectors, if equipped with KA1.
7. Connect the air lines for the adaptive lumbar, if equipped with AC9.
8. Attach the air line and wire harnesses to the seat cushion frame.




9. Install the seat cushion assembly (1) to the seat riser.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

10. Install the front fasteners (2) to the seat cushion assembly (1).




11. Adjust the front seat assembly up and forward in order to access the fasteners (1) at the rear of the front seat cushion assembly
12. Install the seat cushion assembly fasteners (1) to the seat cushion assembly.

Tighten the seat cushion assembly fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

13. Angle the front of the front seat cushion up, in order to access the front seat cushion assembly fasteners.

Tighten the seat cushion assembly fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
