Compartment Trim Panel Replacement - Rear

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover


Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment.
2. If equipped, remove the rear compartment convenience net.
3. If equipped, remove the rear compartment convenience net retainers.
4. If equipped, remove the communication interface module. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement in Cellular Communication.
5. Remove the seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Non-folding) (Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Non-folding))Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding) (Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding)) in Seats.
6. If fixed rear seat back, remove the child seat belt bracket. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Child Seat Belt Restraint System in Seat Belts.




7. Use J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers from the trim panels.
8. Slide the panels off the metal supports.




9. Remove the spare tire cover from the rear compartment.
10. Remove the spare tire.
11. Use J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers located near the lock striker.
12. Slide the trim panels out from under the weatherstrip.
13. Slide each side of the rear compartment trim panels toward the center of the car.
14. Remove the trim panels from the rear compartment.



Installation Procedure


Important: The right side of the rear compartment trim panel fits over the left side.


1. Position the trim panels in the rear compartment.
2. Install the push-in retainers located by the lock striker.
3. Replace the rear compartment convenience net retainers, if equipped.
4. Install the rear compartment convenience net, if equipped.




5. Install the spare tire.
Install the spare tire cover to the rear compartment.
6. Position the trim panels on the metal supports by the rear seat back.




7. Install the push-in retainers.
8. Install the seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Non-folding) (Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Non-folding))Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding) (Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding)) in Seats.
9. If fixed rear seat back, install the child seat belt bracket. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Child Seat Belt Restraint System in Seat Belts.
10. If equipped, install the communication interface module. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement in Cellular Communication.
11. Close the rear compartment.
