Fuel Tank Draining Procedure

Fuel Tank Draining:

CAUTION: Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.

NOTICE: Do not attempt to drain fuel through filler neck, as damage to the filler neck check-ball may occur.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Loosen fuel filler cap.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Vent tube from restraints.
5. Clean fuel filler vent hose connection and surrounding area before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
6. Loosen fuel filter vent hose clamp.
7. Wrap a shop towel around fuel filler vent hose and slowly remove fuel filler vent hose from fuel tank vent tube.
8. Use a hand operated fuel pump device to drain fuel through the vent tube.
9. Reconnect fuel filler vent hose and clamp.
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Tighten fuel filler cap.
12. Negative battery cable.
