Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting







Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Depth gauge, commercially available (0 mm to 40 mm)

- Remove cover and padding from backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Backrest Cover and Upholstery.

Step 1






1st technician:

- Hold bottom part - 3 - of adjuster and turn upper part - 2 - clockwise as far as stop.

In this way, the control cable - 1 - has maximum play.

Step 2






- Get a second technician to help with additional adjusting measures.

2nd technician:

- Position depth gauge - 1 - on open side of housing in upper area.

- Set a dimension - a - of 38 mm between depth gauge - 1 - and sliding and pivoted handle bracket - 2 -.

Step 3






1st technician:

- Now adjust cable - 1 - so that there is no more slack in the cable.

- Hold bottom part - 3 - of the adjuster firmly and turn upper part - 2 - counterclockwise until control cable - 1 - is free of tension and there is slack in the cable.

Step 4






1st technician:

- With backrest release handle. Refer to => [ Handle ] Handle and trim. Refer to => [ Trim ] Trim installed, ensure a 7 mm drill bit or drift - 1 - can be inserted in hole - arrow - and handle has noticeable play without releasing backrest.

- Ensure with a function test that the backrest always engages correctly in the zero position and is released properly.
